So I've recently had a very intimate relationship with the subject of abortion. It's quite personal and absolutely horrifying. It's something no human being should ever be faced with, and it's unfortunate that you can't just tell your belly, "Hey, I'd like to not be pregnant, so how about not being pregnant anymore?" Unfortunately, that's just not the way it works.
Whether you're pro-choice or pro-life you probably know someone who's had one... you may not even know it. It's not exactly a light topic of conversation. "Oh hey, so ya, this one time I got an abortion..." Ya, probably not something you hear very often.
I'm religious, so I guess I'm somewhat of a paradox being pro-choice and all. I don't believe life starts at conception. I guess I kind of view it like if you want to believe a fetus a human, then you may as well believe sperm are humans too. Yes, there comes a point in the pregnancy when abortion is just out of the question and completely appalling, but I guess to each his own. I can't stop someone from having a third trimester abortion... but really, if you've come that far, why not just go all the way. I mean, come on now. If you don't want the child give it up for adoption.
But early on in the pregnancy, before the fetus actually becomes a baby, when it's still forming a brain and a heart and all that important stuff necessary for living outside of the womb, I certainly don't see anything wrong with nipping it in the bud. As horrible as it may sound, and as unChristianly as it may be... I see nothing wrong with terminating an accidental pregnancy. Accidents happen, and being pregnant is EXTREMELY hard on some people... Some people have an easy pregnancy, some people basically have the flu for 9 months.
Either way, I'm 100% pro-choice. I respect other's opinions and can understand where you're coming from if you're pro-life, but there's really no need to push your opinions on others...
If only we could all just quit giving a shit about what other people are doing and concentrate on ourselves, wouldn't the world be a better place?
